1. Cosi Fan Tutte was fairly entertaining. As much as I'd like to say I am cultured and like opera, I actually really don't. I can appreciate their amazing voices, but for only so long. I'm glad we went to a comedy with English subtitles. I'm not sure I would be able to stand a serious Opera. I don't enjoy musicals, so I suppose this isn't too surprising.
2. La Symphony Fantastique was very enjoyable for me. The symphony they played before it was a little boring, though. It was really nice to know the storyline for the symphony, too. It made it much more enjoyable. I used to sort of play Cello for ten or so years. I took a lot of breaks between all the moves and sicknesses, so I never got past beginner's level so watching cello players play make me insanely jealous and unhappy with my lack of talent there I also used to play percussion. I never got good at that either, but watching percussion players always make me happy because I honestly think they have the most fun out of anyone in the orchestra. The poor brass didn't get to play that much, either, but I love the brassy sound maybe a tad bit better than just strings.
3. Cite de la Musique was really interesting to go to. It was interesting for me to learn about the huge variety of music that there used to be. when one thinks of classical music, he only really thinks about the four strings, the typical brass, etc. It was also fun to see how the instruments evolved.
4. The concert this Thursday! I'm excited to go to it and hear electronic weirdness.
5. The Ballet, Siddharta, was really interesting. I forgot what the ballet was about. I even forgot the name which obviously would have helped me, so I was completely lost during it. At first I thought a court ceremony was going on, then i thought they were in space. When they were fluttering their hands, I kind of figured they were sea creatures. The metro bottom came down, and I thought it maybe was a satellite or something, but then the suburban house killed me. I was never anywhere close to figuring it out. When I heard what it was about, it was fun trying to figure how everything fit together. It was a pretty fun and unusual experience.
6. After going to Chartres, a little group of us went to Maintenon to visit the little chateau there. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go inside, but it was beautiful. It was right by the little creek that went through the whole town. It was really nice to see a more rural town in France. I really liked how the houses were built right on the river like that. It was very cute.
4. The concert was really neat. It was a lot less abstract than the other modern music stuff we had listened too which really made me question the definition of music. the instruments weren't as electonificied as i was expecting. it was pretty exciting.
